Arizona trip [phoenix and sedona]

in May Scott and I adventured to Arizona for a birthday gift. My Dad and Step mom gave us their timeshare for the week in Sedona. We flew into Phoenix and spent the day with our friend Alicia, who lives there and was so wonderful to let us stay with her, as well as show us around her city.

We loved Phoenix, but could not live in that heat. It was kind of crazy, almost 100 degrees and it was only May. We went all over, had great Mexican food, went to Alicia’s church, and watched an amazing sunset followed by stargazing at this really cool tower, I wish I would have taken more pictures there. This is the only one I got, of the sunset.

One thing about Arizona was that it was 3 hours off our time zone. We decided to stay on our time, so we were in bed around 7 every night and woke up around 5 every morning. We started out somewhat early for Sedona the following morning, stopping for coffee and pictures with cacti. We embraced being tourists. We loved the drive. There were cacti everywhere and all kinds of crazy road signs we’d never seen, that must have been specific to the west. Things like moose crossing, strong crosswinds, and things like that.

You can’t mistake Sedona when you first see it. There are giant red rock mountains everywhere. So breathtaking. We just kept snapping pictures from the car because we couldn’t believe it. Instead of paying for a jeep tour, we talked to the lady at the front desk, find the best view points, and drive around ourselves. It did not disappoint. I can’t believe how beautiful it is there. Here are a bunch of pics!

[the above picture is a catholic church built into the rock on the mountain, so awesome.]

[this picture of the hummingbirds was taken in Jerome, AZ. It was advertised as a ghost town, so we went. It was so weird. This was outside of a gift shop. You had to pay to get into the ghost town part, and we left. Good story though??]

Up next is a post about our day trip to Route 66 and Lost Canyon (Young Life camp)!
